You have about two weeks to make sure you’re registered to vote correctly in New York.
I know it’s one of those things that is so easy to do if you’re eligible, yet it can be hard to get yourself to do it. Well, my advice is to just do it. Right now.
The easiest way I’ve found is through Rock the Vote. Their website is super helpful: You can type in your information right there, and they’ll print out the voter registration form for you. They’ll even send you a reminder to sign, stamp, and mail the form. And if you’re unsure of your polling place, whether you’re registered, or whether your address or other information is up to date, Rock the Vote can guide you through the process gracefully.
The New York State Board of Elections site has all the official information too, of course, including information about absentee ballots. I find that government websites are often behind the times, but this site has improved since the last time I used it.
